In a world of speed, where information is given to us in small pieces and concentrated, we have the mania of reductions. It is easy to say, “Evita Péron, Argentina’s first lady, was born in 1919. Although she came from a poor family, she played a key role in electing Juan Péron as President of Argentina in 1946. In 1951 she was diagnosed with uterine cancer, and died in 1952, just a month and a half after her husband was appointed President in his second term. ” It is very difficult, however, if you want to show a person’s life, with its tumults, with its confusion, with the pain and hopes that person had. It is difficult to capture a person’s life in images, either on stage or in writing, without committing an act of injustice, of reducing a human being to an impression, to a shadow of a story. And yet, this is the bet that director Mihai Constantin Ranin proposes, together with the choreographer Hugo Wolff, in the show “Evita – Tango”. Together with the actors, they created two hours of music, dance and light, of images that make us shudder, smile or cry. “Evita – Tango” is a show that pays homage, which shows the existence of a person in all its complexity, in compositions that we understand, that are familiar to us, but whose deep meaning always seems a step away from us. “Evita – Tango”, just like Evita Péron, is a tour de force.
