Euripides’ ORESTE is a tragic story about murder, revenge, madness, but also about friendship, about the unconditional love between brother and sister. Although set in the ancient world, the action still moves us today with its powerful plot and perennial deeply human feelings/stories. The play blends the classical with the modern in a way that appeals to today’s audiences.

How do you feel about this project?
Every performance is a pretext for a meeting. An encounter with an exceptional text, firstly and secondly with people. Partners with whom we discover the secrets of the text. What makes this show special is that the meeting between all of us starts from scratch. Everything starts from scratch. For me, most of the collaborators I work with are new. So what is most important is to be able to work harmoniously and really get to know all these people under the guise of Euripides’ text Orestes.

What inspired you to choose this important tragedy?
Euripides’ Orestes is an exceptional play because it talks about two things that I consider very important at this point in my life. The first is the right to the Word. The Word is a great gift to man and he must use it in order to move forward. To claim. To convince. But above all to be able to communicate without hiding anything.

The second element for me is youth. Youth gives me the right to be wrong, I can get excited and despair in a second without being criticized negatively. And this is only possible because I am young.

But the most important thing of all in Euripides’ work is the element of suspension. Like the author himself, his heroes are constantly suspended between two conditions, two situations, two decisions. This was also the core of his work with actors and collaborators. How hard it is to find oneself constantly between two situations.

A few words about the team, what is the most important thing for a good show?
This show has the shape it has because I met these actors and collaborators at the Tony Bulandra Theatre. For me the biggest inspiration is the people I work with. The actors I work with and their joy. This, for me, is the most beautiful element of our work. Joy.
