A theatre man close to giving up… He feels he can’t do it anymore… he doesn’t know why… and he wants to rest.
In order to get to know the Rest – which is a world in itself – he has to sacrifice the Theatre.
But the moment he truly makes up his mind in this direction, he is invaded by the phantoms` world. The performance represents the fight with the phantoms of the theatre… a fight that makes the artist live once again everything that was important during his life: the Memory of the theatre. He succeeds to escape the phantoms and in the end he takes a dive into rest. Mihai Maniutiu.
The Rest or a little time before the end is the second in George Banu`s Trilogy. In 2001 Mihai Maniutiu staged the first play of the trilogy, The Obliviousness / L’oublie, at the National Theatre in Cluj-Napoca. In 2008, he returns to Targoviste for The Rest, which is going to have the premiere within the BABEL Festival. The third part of the trilogy - The Night / La nuit is going to be staged next year.
