Inaugurated on the 30th of january 2002, "Tony Bulandra" Theatre from Târgovi?te is the one of the youngest repertory theatre from Romania.
In less than 5 years, our theatre managed to impose its youthful yet powerful image achieved through an ambitious program, through being passionate and dynamic.
The company has presently approximately 30 actors, the average age being 30. "Tony Bulandra" Theatre's productions were shown in tours, festivals or experience changes both within the country and abroad: the International Theatre of Orvault (France), the International Theatre Festival of Experimental Theatre of Cairo (Egypt), the Chekhov International Theatre Festival from Ia?i (Romania), the International Theatre Festival MOT of Skopje (Macedonia), the Stage Directing Days from Re?i?a(Romania), the M.A.N.In.F.E.S.T International Experimental Theatre Festival from Cluj (Romania), the International Black Sea Theatre Festival of Trabzon (Turkey) etc., obtaining at each one press and/or public success.
Due to its vivid force, to the enthusiasm and creative restlessness, Tony Bulandra Theatre was proven attractive for remarkable stage directors such as: Mihai M?niu?iu and Victor Ioan Frunz? - both laureates of UNITER (Romanian Theatrical Union), Alexa Visarion - manager of the Romanian-American Theatre, Michael Devine (Canada), Laurian Oniga - several directing prizes, , Horatiu Mihaiu, Alexander Hausvater etc., whose productions were designated as excellent by critics.
As a repertory institution, "Tony Bulandra" Theatre is looking for the most important texts in the universal dramaturgy. Thus, different authors like Shakespeare, Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, Büchner, Caragiale, G. M. Zamfirescu, Genêt, Goldoni, Chekhov, Wedekind, Molière, Peter Shaffer, Tadeusz Rozewicz whose main characteristic was value were staged.
Regarding the repertory politics, our theatre is proud about its artistic unity given to each theatrical season.
